Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to help a mate out who's bought a GTX 980m to go in his M18X R2 and looking for a little advice.

Basically the story goes that this card has come out of a Clevo P870DM-G (and therefore should be the gsync version?), and the seller said he tried it in an Alienware and it didn't boot so he sold it for spares / repairs.

I've tried the card in the M18x R2 and indeed it doesn't work - running UEFI / legacy disabled with SG only the intel shows up and when you boot PEG...

Can you identify 980m g-sync vs 980m non g-sync by the board alone?

Finally!!! Alienware M18x R2 with Dual 980M SLI

Here are some basic steps to upgrade Alienware M18x R2 to Dual 980M SLI successfully. This configuration only tested Windows 8 or 8.1, it will not work with Windows 7.

1. Before replacing card, go to system Bios (keep your old graphics card inside system or not any graphics card installed). Then click on Boot tab, UEFI = Enabled, Legacy ROM = Disabled. F10 to save bios and Exit. After then turn off system.

2. install Single or Dual 980M....

Hi All,
First time posting here so hope I'm doing it right.

I have a Alienware M18x-R2 purchased in October 2012, I am looking at upgrading the CPU to Intel i7-3940xm and thanks to the great posts by Mr Fox I have worked out I need to upgrade my single pipe cpu heatsink to a triple pipe cpu heatsink.
So I rushed off ordered a heatsink from Ebay D/PN: 0VMK2 00VMK2 that said it suited Alienware 18 models, then I found Mr Fox's thread on this and saw it had a different Dell Part Number to the...

Hi guys I am Alienware 18 with the following specs:

I7 4700MQ
8GB DDR3 ram
750gb hdd
770m in sli configuration

I play games like bf1 and have noticed stutter even at low-medium settings. I know the gpu's shouldn't cause this at low- medium settings. So I think it's the cpu that's the bottleneck as I've read a few articles and know that bf1 is very cpu intense. I'm thinking of upgrading the ram with Kingston hyperx 16gb @ 1866mhz and buy a 4910mq. Is there much difference in the cpu's?...

Ok I've been making sure this is a good connector and it is. The good, if your connector has a broken retainer ( broken plastic piece), this is a replacement connector for you. It does require that you remove the motherboard to install it and I recommend professional installation.

One thing to note, the retaining clip on this connector DOES NOT fit the oem connector. I tried to modify them, 20 times actually, and failed. It is just too flimsy. Now the retaining clip on this one is cheap...
