intel RST

I have a friend that picked up a m18x r2 off craigslist. So far everything is working properly.

The OS is on a hdd and he would like to drop in a couple of 2tb hdd's for storage and set them to raid 0.
My question is should he still download and use Intel RST even though there is no ssd involved in his set up?
